My goal is to finish in the top 3, going to be tough, but back to TLB grinding in a few weeks. Here are my top 100 scores so far.
Gearing up for the Finish
August 24th, 2010Grinding in Poker and Life
August 22nd, 2010<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

I was raised to always help others before helping yourself and now that my life is almost over, finally believe that you only get screwed over if you try and help someone. People promise me the world and when they get what they want they rarely keep their end of the bargain. <p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Since I only have a few months left to live I am not going to waste my time with the people that have taken advantage of me, but spend it on the customers of RainmanPoker and myself. Closing the membership this afternoon to keep the numbers small and make it as personal as possible and make sure all members are winning players by the end of the year. <p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Looking back I am very proud that I was able to suck out so much money out of the PokerStars 180’s. Below is a graph of all the players I staked / coached and their profits in 2010. The graph is about 18 players that I have closely worked with and staked the past 8 months. The next stop is the Full Tilt 90 mans. Those will be unbeatable in a few months hopefully. <p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

September Membership now Open

Donation
August 14th, 2010I have to apologize for any misunderstanding with the donation to the Oakland’s Children Hospital. I was under the impression since it was effectively my money being donated, and I would be raising funds other ways, and making my own donations that I didn’t have to keep official records and make a paper trail.
I now have a detailed spreadsheet with all the transactions below from the 2+2 thread. An official donation will be made for $6075.89 (the amount of the stakes returned to me), so there can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the charity got their money. I will be making the donation early next week and will forward confirmation to a few people at 2+2.
I have learned many valuable lessons from this. Not only has it cost me the $2500 I spent staking people but the damage to my reputation through the result of one vindictive person’s actions is long lasting.
I want everyone to know that my intentions were nothing less than honorable during this staking venture. Over a few month period many people were given the opportunity to play in a large Sunday MTT that they might not ordinarly get to experience without my stake. Thanks to a great final table run we were able to raise over $6000.
I would like to thank everyone who played and the many who contributed above and beyond. A special thanks goes to silviodante1 who donated a few entries each week. I have posted $500 with a friend to be donated to the charity or organization of your choice.
People that know me can testify that I have given, and will continue to give a lot to charity. Smart poker players know that a -ev staking deal like 50/50 with no makeup is not the way to make a profit in hopes of pocketing it yourself.
This will be my last mention of this matter and would appreciate for you to move forward as well.

Back home and Back on the grind
August 11th, 2010
After the WSOP Main Event I was emotionally drained. It was crazy how exhausted I was and I only played the main event, imagine the guys who play every event, they must go to WSOP rehab centers in New Mexico or something.
Knowing myself, I would be grinding 200 SNG’s a day the morning after and if I want to have any chance of finishing in the top 3 of the Yearly TLB , I gotta have my batteries charged and ready to go down the homestretch. So I decided to take a month off grinding on Stars and get refreshed for these last few months of the year.
Want to clear up a few things as sometimes my humor or wisecracks are misunderstood. Although PokerStars probably does owe me a few 2 outers, they most certainly do not owe me millions. I apologize to PokerStars for those comments and sure hope it did not effect my top level boomswitch setting. I was not negatively effected at all by PokerStars and did not mean anything by those comments other then making fun of myself for being a cry baby.
It did not take long to miss the PokerStars MTT lobby and all those juicy tournaments with huge fields and TLB points falling from the sky. I love playing on Stars and will be grinding harder then ever the next few months to hopefully give Bfizz11 a run for his money. There will be a few other guys going for the title as well so should be a fun race right down tot he wire.
Make sure you check out Dale’s latest blog, he has got his own freeroll this Sunday “Daleroxxu’s NLO H/L Hyper Shoveament Freeroll.”
Busy, too busy
July 2nd, 2010Busy is good, but busy is tough. Been here a little over a month and I think I have moved my grind station four times now, desperately trying to find a comfortable place temperature wise, noise/traffic wise, and so far have not been able to find the perfect place. It is hot in Vegas and with the AC blasting it gets too cold and we tried every temperature between 68 and 78 and nothing works. Got my grind station right now in the coaches conference room which is nice and spacious.
Everything in the house is going fairly smooth. There are some bumps, humps and bruises along the way, but we are always trying to improve and make it the perfect environment for everyone here. We get all sorts of characters and personalities and making sure they all get along or stay out of each others way is a full time gig.
Bodeye left this morning which is sad. I’m going to miss him and I know all the students here will as well. I can’t say enough nice things about Bodeye to give him justice or have enough time to write how thankful I am for having him as a business partner and friend. It would be hard to find two people more opposite than Bodeye and myself, but we share a strong passion for teaching and helping people improve. I know Bodeye learned a lot about himself and grew up quite a bit in just three months. I’m interested to see if his friends back home notice any changes.
I’m really excited for the 10k WSOP Main Event next week. I haven’t decided which of the Day 1’s to play yet. If anyone has any recommendations on which starting day I should play, shoot me a message on my Twitter
I wanted to give a big thank you to Onopro, Benpprice, Ketan, Candiman, and all the guys here who have been working hard.
Enjoying the moment
June 12th, 2010Really fun to wake up in the morning and walk outside the master bedroom and see the boys grinding hard down below. There are quite a few over here now but two in particular I want to talk about.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Ray “Baby” Baker and Ketan have been here the longest and even though I know exactly what will happen when they get out here and in the groove, it still puts a big smile on my face.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Ray is without a doubt the worlds biggest Bob Marley fan as you can imagine is not quite on the Rainman fast paced grind schedule, but when he plays he makes it count. He is getting better and better about playing more games each day and why not when you are that good.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Last week I wanted him to turn up the heat so I told him if he and Ketan each played 185 games the next two days I would treat them to a show on the strip. They both grinded hard and got the job done. Ray was a little upset that I did not choose the shower show at the Rhino but he settled for my personal favorite Mystère at Treasure Island.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Two days ago Nesta won a $24,$12, and $6 back to back to back. We call it a triple crown and quite impressive. Of course he was ecstatic and I think I caught him off guard when I said, “I don’t care. How many games you play today?”
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

More important then a freak run of good luck is getting the games played and that was what I wanted Nesta to understand. You can see from his graph he is a great player and if he keeps improving his volume, better watch out Shark365!
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Mr Patel arrived on the 2nd of June and could not wait to wake up the next morning and get to work. I cannot say enough about the work ethic of Ketan, just awesome and such a great example for everyone else in the house.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

If you do not regularly read his blog, I recommend you check it out here. He has a full time job back home in London and with me on his ass the last few months he has been trying to play 600-800 games a month. Check out his results since he started playing here the 3rd compared to all of May.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Fried Liver arrived last night and will blog soon about Ebecks18 and OnoPro and everyone else at the house. Benpprice and master3004 and a bunch more will be here in the next week or so.
p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Should be taping a new Mad Poker soon, I think the last one was really good and if you have any topics you would like to see us cover, shoot me tweet on Twitter. http://twitter.com/MI_Turtle
515
June 9th, 2010I have lost sleep trying to get some students and horses to play 500 games in a month, well today, I did it in about 18 hours.
Here is the breakdown:
June 8th 2009
515 SNG’s played
207 $12 180’s
95 $27 45’s
69 $12 45’s
47 $38 45’s
33 $3r 180’s
27 $60 45’s
15 $36 180’s
07 $38 18’s
05 $27 18’s
05 $60 18’s
04 $7 180’s
01 $22 180
Total profit $1819 ($2205 w/rakeback)
Total Cashes $12,711
Total Rake paid $858
From 8am until 4pm is when I was playing the most games and here is the breakdown:
8am 28 games
9am: 27 games
10am: 30 games
11am: 35 games
12pm: 33 games
1pm: 32 games
2pm: 38 games
3pm: 33 games
4pm: 34 games
I won 1 $12 180 and 11 45mans
Ray “baby” Baker and Ketan have been working hard , still probably one more gear that I will get out of them, but they have been getting their games in each day and the results are great so far. It is important to just keep your head down and get those games in and the money will take care of itself.
Sure is nice when the cards behave. Ketan had his best day ever on Monday which is always fun and Ray has been killing it, despite playing on tables so small I am convinced he cannot see, he must have mastered some pattern of clicking the check, fold, and bet buttons.
The Lousiville Slugger arrives tomorrow and Fried Liver, BenPrice, and Snowman will be here in less then a week. Really looking forward to the next month or so and seeing how well they all do. You cannot help but succeed when you are in this intense, focused, and fun environment.
Off to LA
June 6th, 2010<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Channing and I went to dinner with friends of ours on Friday night. They just got back from their honeymoon just a few weeks ago and first time we have seen them since we moved back to California.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

We had some great sushi and drinks and enjoyed the evening. Most of the discussion was making fun of me and Channing loves that my buddy gives me a hard time. I mentioned I was going to try and goto a Laker game and my friend didn’t believe I was serious. So obviously I asked him if he wanted to go and he said, “sure, but no chance we can get tickets.”
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Well a few hours later I had forwarded him the confirmation from ticketmaster and he couldn’t believe it. A lot of times people do not realize that when I say something, I mean it. So we are going to catch a 11:45 flight and have lunch in LA and catch the game at 5pm and then fly back to Vegas at 10pm. Did I mention we are sitting 13th row of the NBA Championship Series. Life is gooooood.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Put in a nice session today, 1 tabled for a few hours because of my deep run in the $5 rebuy. Was frustrating to get so far and go out with less then 36 people, but cannot win em all. Instead of calling it a night, I buckled down and grinded for a few more hours. Overall played just under 150 games on the day.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Be back grinding Monday morning.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

May is in the Books
June 4th, 2010<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

WSOP Package $12,000
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Step 6 prize for 3rd place $3000
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

SNG Poker Profits (inc rakeback) $13,058
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

Total Profit $28,058
Not tooooooo shabby. Almost $30,000 on the month which is great because we spent probably twice that much getting the house ready and staking new horses. When you think of all the idiots in the world who would never invest in a poker player, but buy Google stock or shares in Lucent, you realize why it is so easy to crush the game of life.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

I am not sure where else you can find such a safe investment that is going to have such high returns. A player who crushes $2 180’s only needs $300-500 to get started. Within a month your small investment is easily worth $2000-3000.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

One of our best students CarpeDiem22 who trains with Team Phyrrus won so much in the $2’s last month that even PokerStars told him he needs to move up to bigger stakes where they will respect his raises.
Phyrrus set the bar a few months back and he was as happy as anyone to see his student raise the bar just an inch. Now we get to see who is going to push themselves and be King Grinder next.
<p style=”margin-top: 15px;”>

That right there folks is the graph of a true professional. Words cannot describe how impressive it is to hammer out over 3000 games and turn $200 into $3000 in one month. Keep an eye out for CarpeDiem22 the next few months because he is moving up and making a name for himself!
